​GGIS celebrated the 72nd Independence Day on Wednesday, 15th August 2018 with great zeal and fervor. Ms Sonu Gupta, Member, GGF, Principal Ms Bharti Bhagwani, Vice-Principal Ms Seetha Devi, students, parents, teachers, office staff and the attendants joined the celebrations.

The day was graced by Colonel K.T. Kuriakose, Deputy General Manager, Manufacturing Group of Army Base Workshop, the chief guest for the occasion.He was given a grand welcome by the prefect body and the senior management. In his speech Colonel K.T. Kuriakose spoke about his achievements and personal experiences. He also talked about his fatal accident, spine injury and tiresome recovery. He concluded his speech with an inspiring message– Ability is what that matters and not the disability. Later, Principal Ms Bharati Bhagwani gave a speech on the importance of Independence Day. She conveyed a message to keep working actively and wisely for the betterment of the society and the country.

After the flag hoisting children of Std. VI to X moved to the forest area of the school for the upcoming Forest Project. The first tulsi sapling was planted by the Chief Guest after the Bhoomi Pujan.Children were excited as they would be having their very own forest at GGIS campus.

Parents gathered in the Assembly Area for the Annual General Body Meeting & the orientation for CS Pathshala.The IT Team shared vital information to the parents on the importance of, computing skills and how this education module can help them.

The day continued further with the Cultural Presentation by the students of Std. IV & V. Simultaneously, Story Telling Session took place wherein stories of great freedom fighters were shared with students of class I to III.

At the end of the day, Sonu Gupta Ma'am, Member, GGF threw light on the real meaning of the word 'Freedom' and the reason why we as a nation were called Golden Bird. She illustrated upon the reasons, how India has progressed from a Third World country to one of the fastest growing nations of the World and reiterated the need to save our natural resources.

The programme was a real success with the co-operation of each person present that day. All were happy and gay on this pious occasion and respectfully remembered about the sacrifices of those who gave up their lives for the freedom of India.
