Ringing in 2021

Come winter, we all look forward towards celebrating the festive season that starts with Christmas and ends with welcoming the New Year. We wait for social gatherings and celebrations with families and friends. People staying overseas come home during the holidays. This is the time to meet everyone and ring in the New Year with fun and frolic. No wonder, all of us pine for this time of the year.

The Covid-19 pandemic has posed as a huge problem this year. It has brought in lot of unexpected challenges and hardships for everyone. With the dipping mercury and the spread of a mutated strain of the deadly virus now, the entire world has decided to keep the celebrations low key. Nations worldwide are trying to curb the spread by imposing stringent rules. Social distancing is the order of the day. Large gatherings are not allowed.

Do we cancel the celebrations altogether then? Absolutely not! We can plan a grand celebration right at home with our immediate families. Let us plan it well, what say?

Here are a few suggestions we have.

  1. Decorate your home.
Decorating homes do not need to be put on hold. Decorate your home like you do every year. Let your children participate in the activity. Festive decors always bring positivity along.
  2. Keep celebrations small
Unlike other years, keep the celebrations limited to your immediate family. Since social distancing is a mandatory requirement, stay at home with your near and dear ones. You can always connect with your friends and extended families virtually. It would be fun to raise a toast together, sitting at different parts of the world.
  3. Maintain proper hygiene
Wash your hands or use sanitizers frequently to keep them germ free. Wear masks if you are going out.
  4. Eat healthy
Keeping your immunity strong is the order of the day. Eat healthy food, rich in vitamins and minerals, to keep your body strong.
  5. Stay at home
Avoid partying outside. Celebrate at home. If you are going out at all, avoid air-conditioned spaces and sit outside in the open air. One word of caution though! You or your children may catch cold easily. So, be careful.
It is necessary that we take utmost care while ushering the New Year this time. Let all our celebrations happen at our homes. Let us connect with the rest of the world online. Let us stay safe and warm to enjoy 2021 to the fullest.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in advance!
