ANNUAL SPORTS DAY
GG INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, PIMPRI

VENUE: Sant Dnyaneshwar Krida Sankul Athletic Ground, Indrayani Nagar, Sector 2, Bhosari

DATE: 22 nd December'2018
TIME: 9:30 am onwards

The ground of Sant Dnyaneshwar Krida Sankul Athletic Ground, Indrayani Nagar, Sector 2, Bhosari brimmed with excitement, fervour and sports man spirit as the students, parents, management, administration of GGIS and esteemed guests from the sports fraternity gathered to celebrate the 3rd Annual Sports Day of GG International School, Pimpri on 22nd December'2018.
The day began with a friendly alumni match that was played with enthusiasm amongst the boys of GGIS on their school ground.
The morning of 22nd December initiated on a traditional note with the school choir invoking the blessings of the Almighty with a prayer song which was uniquely blended with a Kathak Recital. The audience was mesmerised with the performance.
The march past headed by the school head boy and head girl was a splendid display of discipline & marching in unison. It was followed by a torch run carried out by students who have excelled in sports and raised the school's stature. Later the oath taking ceremony took place which ensured fair play and good sports man spirit.
The audience was already tapping their feet to the rhythmic and traditional dhol demonstration by the boys of GGIS.
Chief Mentor, Sonu Gupta, addressed the school and audience, and spoke about the seamless weaving of Sports in the school's curriculum and how important it is for each child to experience playing on a ground and how it impact their overall development.
The 1st drill of the day : Mass PT portrayed the fun ways in which physical training can be enjoyed and easily made a part of one's live. Next on the list were some breathinkingly high and well-orchestrated pyramids by different houses. The audience couldn't stop clapping as they saw a unique blend of dance with human pyramid formation and some rare moving pyramids.
The 3rd drill of the day was the popular Zumba demonstration by the Jr. Zumba Troupe of GGIS which definitely made everyone sway and swing with them. Well, the fun wasn't over yet , as the next demonstration were some spectacular gymnastic movies followed by a peppy fitness drill and then it was time for some serious moves, the Taekwondo demonstration left each one spell bounded.



During his address the Chief Guest spoke about the lack of awareness amongst students and parents for sports education. He also threw light on the importance of education and correct decision making.
Later the winners of various state and national level competitions held during the current academic year were felicitated by the dignitaries.
The morning session saw exciting finals of athletic amongst the students belonging to different houses. The 1st half of the day came to a fruitful end with the medal distribution for students who had won in competitions held during the finals of the athletic meet.

AFTERNOON SESSION:
The afternoon session had more excitement coming in, as it began with the Inter House Relay Race and Athletic Meets, the students were cheered by one and all present.
During his speech, the chief guest encouraged the students with his words and stated "The importance of introduction of sports in the student's life right from the beginning. The role of parents, how essential it is for them to support the children as well as put in effort so that they can perform well and also understand/ accept that failure is our best teacher. We should never be ashamed of our child if he fails or loses, rather we should encourage and motivate them.
Late the results of the inter house competitions were declared and the prizes for the relay race were given away by Mr. Abhijeet Kunte to the following winners:
